Comment

I think that my comment was courageous and polite because I explained to Milana how interesting her holiday was and I agreed with what she had said about transportation.

The Commonwealth Games

                                                     Commonwealth Games

My Prior Knowledge of The Commonwealth Games

I know that The Commonwealth Games are just like Olympics but a bit different because the Commonwealth Games are only for certain countries and they are also known as the British Empire Games. The Commonwealth Games have the similar style of events and sports as Olympics.

My New Knowledge of The Commonwealth Games

I learnt that the roots of the Commonwealth Games go back over 140 years. The Commonwealth Games started in 1930 in the Canadian city, Hamilton.
The fourth Commonwealth Games 1950 was held in Auckland, New Zealand for the first time.
The Commonwealth Games Federation Flag is known as the CGF.
Nigeria was the first country to object to the Commonwealth Games in 1978 in protest over New Zealand’s sporting contacts with South Africa and the name British Empire Games was changed to what it is now. The Commonwealth Games contains over two billion people, almost a third of the world’s population and over half of them are young people under the age of 25. The motto of the Commonwealth Games is Humanity, Equality, Destiny.

There will be 71 nations and territories  competing in 17 sports over 11 days. This year the Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland on the 24th July 2014 and the next Commonwealth Games 2018 will be in the Gold Coast, Australia.

Evaluation

I now know when the Commonwealth Games started (1930) and Canada, Hamilton which was the first country that held it. I learnt from my present knowledge how the Commonwealth Games Flag looks like and know  that it’s called CGF which is the abbreviation for The Commonwealth Games Federation. I learnt that the Commonwealth Games motto is Humanity, Equality, Destiny.

Hangarau Technology

When I go to Tamaki College, I learn in Digital Technologies. The Maori word for Technology is Hangarau. I have to use the Kiore and the Papa Paatuhi to log into the Rorohiko. At school, I use a Rorohiko Poonaho. We use the Ipurangi to log into the Pae Tukutuku for Digital Technologies. We have to check the Maramataka to see what our tasks are for the day. Sometimes our teacher sends us messages on the Imera. Sometimes our teacher uses her Waea Pukoro to give us Dogo Points or to take photos of us working.

How to Resize Images

Resizing Images

It is important to resize Images properly because they will lose their original size and some will go smaller or even bigger than you thought and people can not see the details in your Image.

Transport in The Holiday

“Mehrsa, get ready to go,” my dad called from the kitchen.

It was 2.30pm, Monday, 20 of April, 2014 and we decided to go to my aunt’s house and stay there for a week. We used our Nissan Primera 2002 to go there. My aunt’s house is in Papatoetoe so during the drive, my dad had to stop once at the petrol station for fuel. After we got there, we used my aunt’s Opel Zafira Tourer van to go to McDonald’s for lunch.

Hello

Hi my name is Mehrsa and I am a year 8 student in Ruapotaka School. I am in room 12 and my teacher is Mrs Golder. My favourite subject at school is maths and sometimes writing.

My favourite foods are lots but some of them are hot dogs, burgers and ice-cream. I really enjoy eating strawberries. My favourite sports are Soccer and Basketball.

The country I like to visit the most is USA. My learning goal is to be BETTER THAN BEFORE and to get A grades in all terms. Turquoise and blue are my favourite colours and in my spare times, I like to read non fiction books and drawing pictures relating to Nature.
